Library Databases
In addition to our library catalog, RSAcat, the library subscribes to several online resources for our patrons. Some of the resources require a LME Library card number and sometimes a PIN #. If you do not know your PIN #, please ask at the library circulation desk for assistance (385-4540). Home access is available for all LME Library cardholders.
Audio & E-Books We subscribe to several databases that have e-books, audio books or interactive books. All resources can be used with a computer and some can be downloaded to compatible devices. Children's Resources There are several databases with resources for children or about children's materials. These include: Alliance Digital Media Library (ADML) some children's e-books and audiobooks eRead Illinois some children's ebooks Early World of Learning from World Book- is comprised of three sites offering rich resources designed for easy integration into the PreK through 2nd grade reading curriculum. |
Encyclopedias World Book Web has encyclopedias for early (World Book Online for Kids), middle (World Book Online Info Finder), and advanced users (World Book Online Reference Center). There are more than 20,000 photos, illustrations & maps; science fair projects; primary sources; read-aloud functionality; games & activities; and computer & web tutorials. In addition, there is a Spanish language encyclopedia (Gran Enciclopedia Hispánica online) and World Book Discover for more graphically based learners. Finally, there is The Early World of Learning which offers a wealth of resources to help preschoolers and children in the early grades grasp critical early childhood themes while developing reading and oral language skills. World Book Newsletters are available monthly and an archive is available. |
Genealogy HeritageQuest is a great resource for genealogists! Simply enter your library card number (barcode) to gain access to US Census records, search books, PERSI, Revolutionary War records, Freedman’s Bank (founded to serve African Americans), and US Serial Set for memorials, petitions, private relief actions. |
Languages Rocket Languages is an online language learning site. Always wanted to learn a foreign language? Now’s your chance—you can access the site in the library or at home! There are courses in Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Hindi, German, French, Chinese and Arabic as well as American Sign Language and English for Spanish Speakers. |
Magazine & Newspaper Articles America’s News Find information on topics related to business, community issues and events, education, government, health, politics and more from a variety of news media including newspapers, newswires, blogs, periodicals, videos and web-only content featuring the Peoria Journal Star and Chicago Sun-Times. Peoria Journal Star Find full-text articles on local news, issues, events, people and much more from current and archived issues of PJ Star.
