Homer, the mascot of the Peoria Chiefs baseball team visited the library on June 27th.
Attention: Parents of Princeville Grade School children, grades 1 - 4. Your children will be coming to the library for bi-weekly visits during the school year. The students do check out books at that time. If your child does not have a library card yet, or if your child has $5.00 or more in library fines, he or she will not be able to check out books with the rest of their class on their visit. Please come in and get them squared away as soon as ossible. Together we can make this a great school year. Class visits will start the week of 9/2/08.
Story Time: Sign up your 3 - 5 year olds for fall storytime now.
Storytime starts Tues., 9/16.
It will meet 9/16 - 10/21/08 @ 10: 30;
class limited to 15 children.
First after school program of the year is school bus safety with Buster the Bus. Buster is a radio controlled bus that will talk (literally) to the kids about school bus safety and answer questions they might have. The target audience is Pre-K to 2nd grade but all ages are welcome. Th. 9/18 @ 3:30.
75 kids attended the end of the summer reading program pool party at Princeville Aquatic Center.
The pool party was the reward for reading and recording 12 books over the six weeks of the program. In addition to the party, those winning additional grand prizes were:
Victoria H. ~ sky rocket;
Hunter K. ~ Pro Flying Saucer;
Alex L. ~ 4 game set;
Kaitlyn B. ~ Monster Tennis;
Izak B. ~ "You" on a poster;
Daniel H. ~ 2 person tent.
A good time was had by all in attendance. The Friends of the Library provided the snack.

It’s time for the annual Friends of the Library book sale. Each year people gather to look through the tables loaded with some great bargains in books, tapes, and assorted “stuff.” All proceeds from the book sale return to the library as funding for special projects of the Friends of the Lillie M. Evans Library District. Some of the projects that the book sale has funded have been: the decorating and furnishing of the young adult area, the sound equipment for the meeting room, the pamphlet file in the foyer, gift certificates for Holiday Homecoming, decorations for the winter garden and sponsoring the end of the summer party for our readers. Donations for the sale come in year-round and starting on August 4th at 9:00, the sale will begin. Prices for the first week are: hardback books-$1, paperbacks-$.50, videotapes-$1. 
October3rd, 2008 for the General Election on November 4th, 2008.
